LEGO BrickLink Series 8 sales numbers revealed, so far

We've calculated the current approximate sales numbers for the eighth series of the LEGO Bricklink Designer Program, which is off to a strong start.

Pre-orders as part of the crowdfunding phase for Series 8 of the BrickLink Designer Program have been open for only a few days. Despite the removal of the progress bar from the BrickLink Designer Program website, the publicly-accessible source code remains available to analyse, meaning we can put together the sales numbers for this series ourselves.

Brick Fanatics has taken that data to calculate the approximate maximum allocation, number of pre-orders, and the consequent value of those pre-orders.  All information is correct as of June 12, but expect these numbers to shift before crowdfunding ends on June 18.

Series 8 set Price Maximum allocation Number pre-ordered Estimated value of pre-orders
Dustmark Keep £319.99 / $349.99 / €349.99 34,883 29,999 £9,599,380.01 / $10,499,350.01 / €10,499,350.01
University of Science £329.99 / $359.99 / €359.99 30,000 18,753 £6,188,302.47 / $6,750,892.47 / €6,750,892.47
Brick Railroad Locomotive £109.99 / $119.99 / €119.99 30,000 20,139 £2,215,088.61 / $2,416,478.61 / €2,416,478.61
Coconut Cape £189.99 / $209.99 / €209.99 30,000 20,961 £3,982,380.39 / $4,401,600.39 / €4,401,600.39
Hot Air Balloon £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 30,000 17,124 £1,198,508.76 / $1,369,748.76 / €1,369,748.76

Dustmark Keep has already been granted an increased allocation, likely based on other sets not selling as well. It seems unlikely that the Hot Air Balloon will surpass 25,000 pre-orders, leaving 5,000 slots available for Dustmark Keep to grab.

The castle creation is easily leading the pack when it comes to the total number of pre-orders, currently just shy of 30,000. Based on the model's price, it has raised over $10 million, though this is not the overall profit.

Looking at the final sales numbers for Series 7, Series 8 is off to a strong start, but there is still a long way to go until it reaches the lofty numbers of that last series. You can find a rundown of the sales numbers for every BrickLink Designer Program set so far in the following table.
